Our bike tours of Cuba will take you to the most beautiful places on this Caribbean Island. Over 2 weeks discover the fascinating Central and Western regions of Cuba and how much fun you can have exploring the various towns, cities and landscape of Cuba on two wheels!

Travel Details

Day 1: Arrival in Havana

Arrival at the International Airport in Havana. Optional transfer to the Hotel, 4* level in Havana where we will spend the first two nights of our trip.

Day 2: Havana

After breakfast we will have a meet-and-greet session with our tour guide. Afterwards we will start exploring Havana through a guided city walk. We will visit all the major sights of Havana's 'Old Town', or Habana Vieja. We will then enjoy a Cuban lunch in a typical, local restaurant. In the afternoon we will visit the community dance and music centre, 'Casa del Tango'. Back at the hotel, you are free to plan the evening as you wish. Accommodation tonight is at the Hotel in Havana, 4* level. (incl. breakfast, lunch)

Day 3: Havana – Viñales

This morning we'll take you to the spectacular city of Vinales by bus. We'll stop for a quick rest before a bicycle tour of the city. At the end of the tour you'll have lunch at a typical Cuban restaurant before checking in to your evening accommodation. This Hotel is nestled in the verdant Vinales Valley, surrounded by fragrant plantations and the unique Mogote rock formations!

Accommodation: Hotel in Vinales, 3* level (incl. breakfast, lunch, dinner)

Day 4: Cayo Jutias

Today you'll ride your bike through the Vinales Valley, to Cayo Jutias. After spending some time on Cayo Jutias, exploring or relaxing on the sandy beaches, we'll return to the city of Vinales for another relaxing evening at the same accommodation. (breakfast, lunch, dinner)

Day 5: Viñales

In the morning, we will hop back on our bikes and follow a little path which leads us through beautiful landscapes to some comunidades (communes) which were developed after the Cuban Revolution. After this, we head to the fascinating area of Fincas where some of the best tobacco in the world is produced. We get to know locals who plough the tobacco as well as women who select tobacco leaves according to their quality. En route, we will refuel at a local restaurant. Tonight is your last night in Vinales. Approx. 50km. (incl. breakfast, lunch, dinner)

Day 6: Viñales – Cienfuegos

On the Cuba itinerary today is a trip to Cienfuegos, also known as the 'Perla del Sur' (Pearl of the South). On the way, we will visit Parque Guama, a natural place of singular attraction that is located in the Cienaga de Zapatas. We will take a boat through the Laguna del Tesoro that lies in a picturesque landscape with many water canals, mangrove forests and palm trees. You may visit a crocodile farm nearby. You will have the opportunity to have lunch in any local restaurant. We will then continue on to Cienfuegos, located at the Central South Coast of the island. We will explore this charming town by bicycle. Cienfuegos is a clean and peaceful place with unique architecture influenced by the French. Accommodation at a Casa Particular in Cienfuegos. Daily distance: approx. 10km. (incl. breakfast)

Day 7: Cienfuegos – Trinidad

On the way to Trinidad today we will cycle by the foot of the mountains of the Sierra del Escambray. There are several inclines on the way but these are easily managed by any cyclist. You will be rewarded by stunning views of fantastic stretches of lush green landscape. After the day’s tour we can admire the beauty of the buildings surrounding the Plaza Major in Trinidad. Later, we will check in at our Casa Particular in Trinidad (no board). You can spend the evening exploring Trinidad independently. Approx. daily distance: 25 km.

Day 8: Trinidad

During a walk through Trinidad we will hear many interesting stories about the "Golden Age” of the sugar boom and its benefits for the city. Spend the rest of the day as you wish. It is worthwhile to take a coco or bici taxi to Playa Ancón, where you can relax, swim or go snorkelling. Tonight we will stay in a Casa Particular in Trinidad (no board).

Day 9: Trinidad

The Cuba itinerary is left free today so you can plan the day as you wish. We recommend an excursion to Valle de los Ingenios. The fertile plateau, with its surrounding hills of the Sierra del Escambray, owes its name to the sugar mills built at the beginning of the 19th Century. There is a little railway leading to Manaca Iznaga, originally used to watch the slaves while working in the sugarcane fields. Overnight at the Casa Particular. (no board)

Day 10: Trinidad – Santa Clara

Today’s final destination is Santa Clara. But first, our daily bike tour (approx. 30km) takes us through a charming mountain landscape of pine forests, eucalyptus and broad-leafed trees. The cycling paths are a bit stony and steep at times but are manageable by the average cyclist. We take a break in the town of Topes de Collantes - 800m above sea level - which is renowned for its extra clean air and its sanatorium. In the afternoon the tour continues to Santa Clara through a fascinating landscape. Accommodation in a Hotel, 3* level in Santa Clara. (incl. dinner)

Day 11: Santa Clara – Varadero

Our cycling trip continues to Varadero (approx. 30 km), located at the Peninsula de Hicacos. This is where Cuba’s longest and one of its most beautiful white sandy beaches with crystal-clear waters is located. Relax on Playa Azul Beach and bury your cycling feet in the warm sand for the rest of the day. Accommodation at the Hotel in Varadero, 3-4* level. (breakfast, dinner)

Day 12: Varadero

Today, there is no bicycle tour on our itinerary. You can either choose a quiet beach area to relax in, or you may go for a walk to explore Varadero with its various restaurants, bars, clubs and shopping malls. Accommodation at the Hotel in Varadero. (full-board)

Day 13: Varadero

One more beach day Varadero.

Accommodation: Hotel in Varadero (full-board)

Day 14: Varadero – Matanzas – Havana

Our first destination is Matanzas, the capital of the province of the same name. There you will find the fourth largest port for sugar exportation in the world. Matanzas is considered one of the most important industrial cities in Cuba and known for its great poets, culture, and Afro-Cuban folklore. After a break we drive along the Yumurí Valley and continue our trip to Havana through amazing countryside. Accommodation at the Hotel, 4* level in Havana. Approx. daily distance: 45 km (incl. breakfast, dinner)

Day 14: Departure

Today is when your cycling holidays in Cuba come to an end. The morning is left free for you to do as you wish. You could perhaps take a stroll through Havana Vieja for souvenirs to take back home or catch up on any of the sights you haven't had a chance to see. In the afternoon you may either be transferred to the airport (optional) for your return flight back home or continue to your connecting hotel. (incl. breakfast)

End of the round trip
